Peter Kuchnicki
Founder & Executive Director, Spark Design & Architecture Awards
Peter is President of the Spark Design Awards, a new approach to encourage fresh thinking and innovation across all design disciplines and levels of expertise. Their motto is “One For All” and the Spark Awards have thousands of entries from around the world. In 2008 Peter began a long-term partnership with the Autodesk Design Gallery, to host and exhibit the Spark Awards in the States. In 2009 Peter made presentations at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea and Shih Chien University in Taiwan. He began co-operations with the Guangzhou Design Week, the Guangdong Industrial Design Association and the China International Design Fair to exhibit the Spark Awards in China. In 2010, Peter developed the Lexus Prize at the TED Conference. In 2011, 2012 and 2014, he was a Juror for the iF Concept Awards, and in 2012, invited to make a presentation at the Hyundai Design Studios. Peter traveled over 60 days in 2019 Sparking the world design community.
In 2014, Peter conducted the first Spark jury in Asia, hosted by the Shenzhen Industrial Design Association (SIDA). In 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Spark brought juries to Hong Kong and in 2016 staged a winners exhibition during the Hong Kong Business of Design Week. 2018 and 2019 brought Spark to 3 exciting showcases: the first Hebei Design Week; the Shenzhen Design Week and the Shenzhen International Industrial Design Festival, all produced by SIDA.
He is Editor and Publisher of the 2011 and 2012 Spark Design Awards Yearbooks; the 2013, 2014 and 2015-17 Spark E-Yearbooks and the over 200 page Spark Awards website.
Peter has organized, created and produced over 85 major events, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and competitions in the areas of design, advertising, communications and creativity. His most recent event was The Celebration: A Conversation With the 2019 Spark Winners. He also produced the GOING Conference on Alternative Transportation, the WonderBrands, Wires & Tires, Business UnUsual, Net@Work and Metropolis West conferences, LatinExpo—Hispanic Marketing Exposition, the extensive Adweek Creative Seminars and Creative Shootout Competitions, Creativity Canada, Creative Media Awards, Malta Creative Marketing conferences, Creativa Awards (Mexico) and over 1,200 workshops in the Adweek Seminar Series.
